Picking up an instrument in the midst of a busy schedule can be difficult when you have so many responsibilities to balance. Luckily for us, in this digital age, there is a vast number of resources and learning materials you can easily find on the internet. One of the most useful tools you can make use of are the applications made available on Google play stores and Apple stores. One click away on your smartphones, tablets and laptops and you are ready to learn to play the piano!

1. Simply Piano by Joytunes

Available on both the Apple app store and on Google play, Simply Piano makes learning the piano easy and fun for both beginners and intermediates. It uses cutting-edge technology to listen to what you're playing through the microphone in real-time to give immediate feedback. Even if there is background noise, multiple notes are recognized better than any other apps. Simply Piano also provides different courses for different music levels, personalized exercises, sheet music and warm-ups to customized to your skill level. Lastly, it also has a library of hundreds of fun songs to play, making your progress fast and easy.

2. Yousician

Yousician is an all-in-one platform that teaches you how to play not only the piano but also guitar, ukulele and bass. Similar to Simply Piano, you play your real instrument while following along with different piano lessons on the app, and then receive feedback to see how well you are doing. Yousician makes learning fun as it provides weekly challenges and trainings in music theory. Designed by actual music teachers from around the world, you can learn chords, melodies, sight-reading sheet music, your favourite music genres, and so much more!

3. Flowkey by flowkey GmbH

Flowkey provides a visual way of learning the piano. It shows you exactly how to play each note, so that you can follow along correctly. Perfect for beginners, returners and advanced players, it provides access to a library of 1500 songs of different genres from which you can pick from. A unique function Flowkey provides is the loop function, which replays a certain section until you perfect it. A slow motion function is also available for you to play at a reduced speed to get comfortable with a piece.
